"He’s such a smart player. He has such a high basketball IQ. He would do what he needs to do to help them win. To defend, rebound, he’ll score, he’ll run the floor and he’ll get deflections. Everyone was able to see that in his stint with Alab Pilipinas.”

MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel import Renaldo Balkman plans to repay the love and appreciation that he has gotten in the Philippines.

The Puerto Rican big man announced on Tuesday that he will "give back" through the Balkmania Cares Foundation, with the orphans of the Alay Pag-Asa Christian Foundation as the primary beneficiaries.

"A time to spend with the kids, get to know them, play, gift-giving, and feeding program," Balkman said. "This Foundation is housing 50-plus children."

Balkman called on his followers on social media – amounting to more than 90,000 followers on Instagram and Twitter combined – to donate whatever they can.

"We're taking donations until Friday. Anything for the kids will help and will be greatly appreciated," he said.
